Feeling hugely better today... went shopping for the usual muchies. Living on cream biccies. They seem to be the SA snack of choice and they're only 40c a pack, so we're munching out!
The river here is beautiful but the beach is an exposed sand dune at the end of town and it's like sitting in an oven. It's also the main thoroughfare for the pedestrian traffic and bicycles, so you sit near the water at your own risk.
Chilled out in a square near the church, then hit siesta time and crashed.

Highlight of Barra, is the sand dunes in the national park. There's a system of lagoons, scattered about, so we grapped a jeep at sunset and bumped along for an hour to the dunes. Dry season 😞 and a 2km walk across the top of the dunes in a thunderstorm with a high wind. Welcome to Lawrence of Arabia..... it stung, we whinged and just kept on going. Incredible night scenery. Finally found a lagoon with water and walked into it fully dressed. Water was about 20*C, birds and frogs sounded amazing.
Had a few shots of rum to cheer us up and then back across the dunes. Thunderstorm had moved on 😊

Interesting D&M with everyone expect the tour leader. There's one of us, who is unbelievably inconsiderate and a total dill. Can't stand him and don't talk to him but apparently I should, so he feels better about himself. As if!! My holiday, he should have stayed home with his shrink! Maybe it's an Aussie chick thing. Shells in emitting the cone of silence too 😊
