Even though I haven´t exactly been slumming it or been travelling for a while yet, this homestay felt like a godsend. My own spacious room, clean house, freshly squeezed juices for breakfast...mmm! The freshly squeezed juices and coconuts out here are just so good...
We all went for a drive around the town - Barra, Pelorhino, Vitoria, Garcia... the whole place is stunning. We should have come here for a school trip whilst studying Post Colonial literature for English Alevel - everywhere you go you see the crumbling ruins of what were once decadent colonial buildings...
Anywho I´m off to watch some Brazilian tv,a nd my brazilian family should be back from church any minute. And thats another thing - religion is very strong out here - the amount of times i~ve seen the word 'jesus'painted on walls, cars, tshirts ...
Tomorrow : first portuguese lesson and oh boy do I need it (no one here speaks english - and why should they?!)
