Edit Blog Post

Hi everybody,

Sorry we´ve been lame about updating blogs but we´re busy all the time! It´s been so long now and we´ve done so much that we decided it might be better to write a list of the things we´ve been up to:

We climbed the volcano in Pucon, Chile in looked right in to the hole at the top until we froze and choked on sulphur and slid back down it on our bums which took 2 hours!! Then we went to Valparaiso, a coastal town that´s lovely and Bohemian and even the graffiti is so imagnative that it makes Banksy look boring! The we went to Santiago which is not AS nice but we went to the zoo and felt sorry for the badly kept animals and took a funicular up a big mountain and drank buckwheat tea. Then we went back to Argentina to a wine district called Mendoza where we hired bikes, bought a map and toured the vineyards getting free tasting sessions which was great (and very educational of course...!!) Then we went into the Atacarma desert which is vast and dry and dusty but amazing. Here we stayed in Salta where we watched a Pato tournament which is like a mix between polo and netball, crazy, but exciting! Then we took a bus up to Bolivia and then a desert train to Uyuni, which is a town in the South, smack bang in the salt flats. We took a three day Jeep tour from here which took us on the first day to a train cemetary, across a huge, dry salt lake and to an island of 2000 yr old Cactus´s before staying in a hostel made of salt! On the second day we saw 9 more volcanos, lakes covered in Flamingos, a red lake and lots of lamas before we stayed in a campsite at 5000 meters! On the third day we woke at sunrise to watch it light up 7 incredible geysers, swam in volcanic hot springs, saw crazy rock formations, a green lake, more desert land and then headed back to Uyuni!

From here we took a bus to Potossi where there used to be silver mines and Africans and Indigenous people were enslaved by the Spanish to dig in indescribable conditions which were pretty shocking to learn about. Then we took a bus to Sucre, the white city, which is beautiful and we relaxed and went to museums and learnt about tapestry! Then we took a bus to La Paz where we partyed...Then we took a bus (over the technically ´most dangerous road in THE WORLD´) to the jungle and here we saw:

TONS of aligators and Camen
Thousands on monkeys which we fed our bananas to...
2 Anaconda snakes,
4 deadly river snakes
A COBRA (which was in our camp!!)
Capybaras which looks like bear-sized guinea pigs
An aligator catch and eat an anaconda two meters from our boat
We fished and ate our own pyrranhas
And we swam with pink river dolphins

All this was completely wild so we were lucky to see so much. And that´s about it I think...Next we go to Lake Titicaca so we´ll let you know about that at some point...soonish!

Bye bye bye bye lots of love everyone - Soph and Chris xxxxxxxxxxx
