From Potosí we took a very crowded and bumpy, five hour bus journey to Uyuni. The town would be a "middle of nowhere town" if it weren´t for all the Gringos that walk the streets looking for the best-value Land Cruiser tour to the world´s largest salt flats nearby and of course somewhere to feed, water and shelter themselves for a night. No matter where you stay in Uyuni, the nights are so cold... Read Full Entry

One for the Chemists - it´s what makes bio-washing powder biological (note: there´s nothing actually biological about it whatsoever)

This was the only flamingo we saw - he´d obviously forgotten to migrate with the rest of his pals. You´re probably thinking "he´s white not pink" - well there are many varieties, deal with it. Alternatively, you probably can´t even see him!

Not looking very green because of the icy covering. Vulcán Licancábur (in Chile) and the moon can be seen behind.

olivos was terrible
nice writeup BUT Avoid Olivos like the plague. Our cheap old car broke down repeatedly - not acceptable or reasonable reasons. Overheated twice. Alternator needed repairs en route. Car literally had no clutch, so every start was a rolling start, and on the flats we clients had to get out and push. No excuses for this, plus, when we returned the nasty, quibbling owners refused to grant any refund. I had to drag them into the police office and get the magistrate to order a refund.
