This particular morning was one of the most efficient I´ve had yet. Having just arrived on a bus from Potosi at 1am (see previous post) I was anxious to book a tour of the Salar de Uyuni and leave this morning as I´d learned that the town of Uyuni is not a particularly fun place to spend a day. I woke relatively early and happily discovered that virtually all of the tour operators (and there a... Read Full Entry

I made the post!!!!!
Awwww..... Thanks Gerry! You made me smile, and I only hope I can one day meet your new friend Jamie. My cousin lives in San Diego, and I have been threatening to move there for at least 4 years now... Anyway, thanks Sweetheart for the shout out. For some reason, I'm in a funk tonight, and you put a big smile on my face. It's the little things... Good friends, good peeps. Okay, enough sap. What kind of beer do they have? :P

Your blog brings back a lot of memories! You're lucky that there was water on Salar de Uyuni -- I was hoping for that but it was cracked dry when I was there. I'd forgotten about the train graveyard -- that's a cool site and a nice bonus on the trip

Just re-read my blog entry from my Bolivia trip in 2002 -- it was almost identical! Heather said she wouldn't be able to tell the author between the two http://travel.ericdsouza.com/2002/06/potosi-bolivia.html

beer
my favourite so far has been either Cusqueña or Arequipeña in Peru (where I am right now). In Bolivia they had a pilsner that was pretty good ... I can´t remember the name ... La Paz Pilsner maybe?

Eric´s blog
Hey, I just re-read your blog entry too ... Heather is right, pretty darn similar. I think our perspectives on things are still quite similar when we travel. Regarding the water on the salar, it was only really in one spot just as we were leaving. I was so hoping for it as I´d seen pictures elsewhere ... it was barely enough to get the reflection shot ... but that was enough for me.

Sounds great...now i'm really getting excited to go on my trip too!!!! Now that you've made another friend in San Diego, the Timmerman clan will have more of an excuse to come visit me in San Diego. :)
