La Paz to Quito

Arriving just after midnight, the windy helter skelter drive down from the airport in to La Paz really got the excitement rolling, that little jump in your belly! Woohoo!! A misty cool evening, obviously even summer at 3600m is going to be cool, we eventually arrived after a series of cobbled streets and bumpy roads to a completely locked up Hotel Etstella Andrina in the witches market area of La Paz.

Spent the first day cruising around La Paz combatting the altitude headache, drinking lots of water and just establishing my bearings. Trying to make it up and down the steep streets without my head exploding.

Wandered down to the magnificant San Francisco Church, which unfortunately has been dug up at the front, but you can still get the grandeur of the place. The stalls in front peddling everything from freshly squeezed orange juice to flash drives and nail clippers.

The following day I got completely lost but stumbled across smaller Plazas and became really dumbfounded by the number of churches! You think there are a lot in Venice, well La Paz would give it a run for its money.

The witches market is a fascinating place,

I'm yet to get my camera out, I don't think the people would be too accomodating. There are bizarre collections of dried llama fetus' and tea leaves, alongside the brightly coloured fabrics that Bolivia is reknowned for.

Looking forward to meeting everyone on the trip, think I'm nearly La Paz'ed out.
