May 17th 2007 Hired a car for the day and trooped of to see the Perito Moreno glacier.

The Patagonian ice fields are the worlds 3rd largest store of fresh water and the Perito Moreno glacier is one of 48 glaciers...

Although not the biggest this is one of the most popular glaciers as it is still growing and is one of the most active. Many people see ice breaking off and crashing into the lake. We did not. We heard the growling cracking glacial cracks but we did not witness any actual breaking off. We did see a video of the 2004 rupture which was pretty interesting - for a while anyway.
