El Chalten

Chalten is a small town in the national park Los Glaciers. el chalten
It's an ideal place for hiking and that is exactly what we're planning to do. We're staying in Casa de Piedra. The mighty FITZROY mountain peak is dominantly present but only visible with clear sky which is unfortunately not quite common in this area.

We were again very lucky, on the day of arrival the sky opened up just a couple of hours after we arrived. Visitors were waiting to see Fitzroy already for days.....we saw it!
Only briefly and still partly clouded but we did see the mountains, great view, over 3 km of rock reaching up from the 400m of altitude of the vilage of Chalten.

Second day of our stay here the weather was great and we hiked 15km to lago torre and had a great view on one of the glaciers but the cerro torre was covered in clouds and of course it was cold with ice floating in the lago.
Today is he third day in Chalten....the weather changed dramatically. There is a strong wind, sometimes rain and snow.....freezing cold. So we did two short hikes to nice viewpoints on cerro Fitzroy and the vilage of chalten. But ofcourse Fitzroy was again covered in clouds.

We´ll leave for El Calafate tomorrow.

Zeilen met oud en nieuw is zo gek nog niet...
He globetrotters! Ons thuisblijvers een beetje jaloers maken met alle mooie verhalen he? Het was bijna gelukt, totdat ik Noortjes mooie teletubbie immitatie zag. En dan vinden mensen mij vreemd dat ik met oud en nieuw ga zeilen... Nee, serieus, jullie hebben echt een superreis en ik ben erg benieuwd naar alle andere foto's. Geniet ervan!
