When we reflect on our year away it could very well be that we enjoyed our 2 weeks in Argentina's Patagonia the most. The time we spent here was all about the landscapes and the isolated towns that we visited. 20km return hike. The hiking boots are well broken in at this stage!

After a few cloudy days, we were blessed with a blue sky for our hike to the base!

It was cloudy the first time we climbed to this viewpoint so we couldn't resist returning on a clearer day.

Today he did suffer from the cold along the 20km return hike! Just a pity about the clouds that blocked the full views of Cerro Torre and Cerro Fitz Roy.

This causes massive chunks of ice to fall off or "calve" from the main body of ice. The ice is constantly making loud cracks as pieces break away.

The only calving Donal saw this year! You'll have to knock some serious work out of him when he returns!

At up to 170m thick in places he should be OK! He hasn't put on that much weight from the steaks, chocolate and wine!
