The bus station at San Pedro! The bus station at San Pedro! The bus station at San Pedro!

We sat here in the baking heat for 2 hours!
Well we went for a little drink after my last posting to reach a verdict about Bolivia or not. The pub was just lovely, out in the middle of the desert with an open roof and a fire. We both had bus tickest for Sunday morning, so that kind of swayed our opinion, plus the jeep trip seemed to cover much of what we'd seen already, lakes, geysers, mountains, salt plains.

So we got up earlyish on Sunday morning to catch our bus, there was confusio over my ticket so I was told to be there for 11 as the bus was at 11.30. Got there, got my new ticket, lady in office muttered something in Spanish, with my wonderful grasp of Spanish I thought she said we had to go around the corner for the bus. So off we trotted, and a bus arrived at about 12, we were told it wasn't our bus but that ours would be along shortly, now bear in mid that we are sitting out in the hottest desert in the world! The bus didn't arrive till after 1, at which point we were a little sunburned. We stopped about 5 minutes up the

road to get our passports stamped ad on we went. All was going really well, most amazing scenery, until about 8.30pm, when the bus pulled into the side of the road, where we stayed for the next 8 hours! Until the bus which had left San Pedro ahead of us made the trip to Argentina and came back to collect us. The poor drivers were demented, it was so cold that the driver came around and gave us all some Pisco sour (a Chilean drink) to warm us up.

So we didn't arrive here in Salta till about 10am this morning. Checked into our hostel and went sunbathing for the day (it's up in the high 20s at this point Hallelujiah!). We've got our pics sorted so will try to post them tomorrow.
