Edit Blog Post
Welcome to my blog.
My plan is to give you are regular update of my live in Buenos Aires Argentina!
Some say it is the Paris of the South; some call it the other city that never sleeps. I say they are both!!!
For those who are thinking right now …what the hell why is he writing his blog in English. It seems to make more sense to write it in one language than to write two separate ones: P that’s what you get if you meet great people all over the globe and want to stay in touch.
Anyway I have been away for I while …I mean it has been a month ago since I Left.
So it is time for an update!!
For those who don’t even no I am gone …here is some Basic info
Because I have a hunger for traveling and adventure, I decided to do my minor abroad in Buenos Aires Argentina. I will stay here till mid-January and than well we see what happens. No worries I have to come back at some point to do some re-exams but my flight back can be changed….
Surprisingly enough my arrival went
pretty smoothly I mean this time I actually knew that the university was expecting me ,I speak actually Spanish and most important I already had arranged a roof above my head :P
So some people asked me how I live and where I live.
I live in one of the best neighborhoods in the city named Recoleta and Well the place I live is very hostel like. I am here with an organization and the have a house where around 20 people ..yes 20 !! people stay. Mainly people from the USA and Brazilians.
This is most time awesome because we have every day a party going on from toga party to I move to another room in this house party. But as you probably can imagine it is never quit in the house and I have a shortage of sleep nowadays(although everyone always sees me sleeping here on the couch )
Soooo what have I been up to besides partying.
Well in my first week I had introduction week at university what was mainly blabla but we also went to an estancia.(farm).Here we saw a cultural tradition of caballeros(‘’cowboys’’) ,ate amazing good meat(Argentina is well
known for their meat) accompanied by a great tango performance and we got the opportunity to go horse riding. We furthermore got some wine and although I am not a wine drinker …the wine is really GOOD here!
I furthermore got my first tango lesson and did a bus tour to see the city’s highlights .
Buenos Aires is well known for its architecture and its very French-Italian like.
Every day I pass by the pink presidents house(casa Rosario) what looks like a Dutch brothel because the put nice pink lights on it in the evening.
The furthermore have a great market on Sundays in San Telmo that is huge and where you can walk for hours and is located in an artistic area. I also went to Cementario Recoleta , the graveyard of Argentina where the graves of famous people such as Evita Péron can be found. Big tombs with immersive statues makes it a fascinating place without being actually creepy. Furthermore I have seen an incredible amount of impressive buildings and statues but it would be too much to tell about.
Anddd I went to the zoo where you can actually touch the animals such
as tigers, lions and bears so amazing and absolutely not legal in the Netherlands :P
Although BA is amazing I wanted to see more than just this city so I went to Uruguay,
Uruguay is easy to reach by very so I spend the weekend there. I visited the capital Montevideo and Colonia what I would call the city of romance.(A)
Where Montevideo is extremely not touristic -museums are closed in the weekend and the streets are empty before 20.00 Colonia is the complete opposite . On every corner you can find something interesting to make a picture of. I think the pictures I have put here and at Facebook give a good impression.
Sooo for those who think I am actually only having fun. I am actually studying as well.
I am following 7 courses and have around 22 hours of classes a week.
They are the following.
• Economic development
• Latin America law
• Spanish
• South America political sciences
• Psychology
• Leadership in NGO’S
• Cooperate finance in Latin America
Well that was it for now next time I probably have some nice pics of the waterfalls in the
North iguazu falls 😊
