Portenhos (residents of Buenos Aires) love to brag that 9 de Julio is the widest street in the world. At its widest its 16 lanes, but seems even wider with the side streets that run parallel to it. If you're crossing 9 de Julio on foot, it's almost impossible to make it from one side to the other before it turns red...unless you run, of course.
