Bus Station
Navigating the mile long row of bus gates was one of our greatest adventures. To Mar del Plata Because of Holy Week, we had no classes Thursday afternoon or Friday. In keeping with the solemnity of Easter week, we decided to go to Mar del Plata, a beach resort town. Since summer is just ending down here, Holy Week is kind of like Labor Day Weekend, one last hurrah before winter. The news said that 200,000 Argentinians descended on Mar del Plata for the weekend. We picked a good time to get out of Buenos Aires as Thursday night there were large protests throughout the city - businesses burned and looted, etc.
Mar del Plata was beautiful though. Typical beach town with lots of nice houses and packed beaches. The night life was typical of Argentina and I managed to see the sun come up on two consecutive mornings. We had our first experiment with South American sushi and it went well - easier on my bowels than the rest of the Argentinian food anyway (if you want more details on my bowel issues in South America, just shoot me an email and I´ll be glad to give details).

Wine in Dixie cups on a bus - always classy was only a 5-6 hour bus ride, so it was totally tolerable.
