Monteriggioni...a fortressed town

This town stood for hundreds of years fending off the nasty Florentines - until it finally fell in the 1500s to Florence. There are four dozen people or so living in the town. Quiet and one of the least touristy towns we've visited... yet still of course the souvenir shops and museums . Loved it ,nonetheless. ... read more
