Caminito Street, La Boca

The dock workers who lived in this area were so poor that they could only build their houses using cast-away thin pieces of sheetmetal from the docks and painted them with leftover paint from the ships. Not always having enough paint of the same colour the houses became a colorful patchwork. The homes were painted to keep them warm in winter and cooler during the summer months.
