The Camp

Although the TRC camp in Vellore is regularly used to put up people who are doing research or field work for the Chennai-based organization, it has only one bed. The other three bedrooms are just floor space with mats (although the one in this picture is a new one that we bought especially for our own uses). After one week of (not at all) sleeping on this mat we upgraded to the cotton cushions that you can see in the corner of the photo. My standards for luxury sleeping have been completely re-adjusted and I'm so greatful for this added bonus.

Today is the first very humid day in the city--the sky is grey, the sun is gone, and everything is sticky. Today is also the one month anniversary of my arrival in Chennai.
