Saturday Decided against travelling back to Rotarura and instead explored Whakatane, walking along the riverside and out to the mouth. Loads of big pickups with boat trailers parked up at the jetty so presumably loads of boats out at sea, mostly fishing from the looks of those we could see.Obviously we went up a hill through a forest but this time we came out at an old Maori fort called Toi's Pa, ... read more
