Being the last plane into Istanbul has its major disadvantages. Having landed 15 minutes early was irrelevant when one spends over an hour and a half trying to get into the country and people constantly tried to jump the queue and 'sneak' past people. Having grown up in Australia, I had no idea that when I left in December, 1998, I wouldn't go back. After working and travelling in the northern hemisphere for over 13 years, I then quit everything to travel through Africa in 2012.
