The Dominicans refer to the Parsley Massacre as El Corte (the cutting); the Haitians refer to it as Kouto-a (the knife). The Parsley Massacre was a government sponsored genocide in October 1937 and lasted about 5 days. Dominican dictator Rafael Trujillo ordered the execution of Haitians living in Dominican Republic.
