On Wednesday of my fall holidays, I went with a group of foreigners to Heavenly Lake, which is a couple of hours away from Urumqi. We hiked around (Chinese hiking is all on boardwalked paths - no roughing it here!), ate at a lovely Uyghur restaurant on site, and kept hiking. It was beautiful.
