Bo Kaap, Cape Town

This Muslim area was first built for freed Indonesian slaves, who painted their houses bright, vivid colours to create a sense of individuality. It is now still largely Muslim Cape Malay area, with 18 mosques in a 1KM square area, but has also become a very desirable area to live. Fashion shoots for high-end editorials are shot here on a regular basis.
