Small Teahupoo

This wave is known as the heaviest surfable wave in the world. It's incredibly dangerous as it breaks in water that is about a foot and a half deep. This pic is of a pretty small wave in comparison to what a big swell brings, and the guy surfing it is 12 yrs old. On big days, the best pros in the world will be getting towed into it.

It took about 12 days to get to Tahiti from NZ. The route took us through an area where there is pretty much absolutely nothing going on, and there is no normal reason for anyone to be there, as there is no real shipping going on between NZ and Chile (our course to avoid the weather took us nearly straight East).
