Brolga

These birds are famous for their dancing. It was originally thought to be a mating ritual but more recently the thinking is that they do it just for fun. We did see them dancing but - as usual - I didn't have the camera.

Travelling north from Longreach, we are moving into Waltzing Matilda country. The unofficial Australian national anthem, this song has been heard around the world, yet few people are aware that it is based on actual events.
