Before crossing into Umbria, we stopped for lunch in Cortona. By the balustrade in the shady Piazza Garibaldi, we looked out across the plain to Lake Trasimeno. From the Piazza della Repubblica, a narrow road leads up to a restaurant with a stone terrace. We had lunch here, overlooking the square.
