Giant xiàngqí board

Xiàngqí is often referred to as Chinese chess. There are many similarities to Western chess but also many differences. One of my students tried to explain it to me but my game definitely needs more work. Check out the guy in black standing on the board to get an idea how big the pieces are. This board was set up at the gondola station. Why? Why not?
