The interior of the Old Mosque. Nowadays writing is on smaller tablets attached to the walls; the walls on this mosque were covered with calligraphy. This particular one reads "Allah", chosen since it's the only Arabic word I can recognize with certainty.

Hitched across rolling fields and afternoon fog through Eastern Thrace to Edirne, less than 20 miles from Bulgaria and Greece.
