Cormorant Night Fishing

Went fishing at night with a man and his flock. Basically, the fisherman ties ropes around the bird's necks so they can't swallow their catch. They then bring up fish, which he empties into the basket. Once the catch is finished, the ropes come off and the birds get to eat. Kind of cruel -- but the birds are valuable, so they're treated well.

Sadly, our time in China is coming to an end. The past three weeks have been an amazing blend of urban/rural Chinese life and from what we've seen and heard from others, China wouldn't be a bad place to live.
