Having consumed a good breakfast, and said goodbye to my hosts, I worked out that I had 7 hours for my trip to the nearby Mount Taranaki, before it was time to drive up to Hamilton. Aiming for the Egmont visitor centre, and checking inside for tips, maps and weather information, left me just 6 hours on the mountain.
