Day 5 Chiang Khong This morning we take a journey through rural countryside to the Thai border town of Chiang Khong (approx. 5.5 hours). Our accommodation is close to the spectacular Mekong River into Laos. “Not all those who wander are lost.” - J. R. R. Tolkien The new year often rolls round and everything remains the same as it was before the stroke of midnight. However for 2009 the start is like no other year for us. Adventure is afoot as we say goodbye to our friends, families, jobs and dwellings and head off to visit more than a handful of cities, countries and continents.
