Buying a bus ticket to Siem Reap from Bangkok to see the temples of Angkor is easy. The journey itself is another matter! I asked at a couple of travel agents about tickets and got similar prices so bought from an agent through the hotel later to find most other people had paid half the price. Welcome to my travel diary. This travel blog was started when I took a year to travel round the world in 2005-6. It was a fabulous year spent in three continents: Africa, Asia and South America. I met many people and had many adventures. Over the following three to four years, I regularly travelled to the Rift Valley in Kenya as part of my PhD study.
