Inside the South Gate on the ground level. Can't take a picture here without someone in it. Grr. By the way, this citadel is not just the largest on the Nanjing City Wall, its the largest of its kind in China and largely intact aside from that which was built with wood or sticks and stones.

I left for Nanjing at about 6:30 in the morning. I hadn't booked my train ticket and was told I may not get one so I tried to get there early.
