Thae Pae Gate

This is the Thae Pae Gate into the old city of Chiang Mai. The old city was surrounded by a brick wall. Some remains still exist, but does not exclude the Old City from the rest of modern Chiang Mai. This is one end of the Walking Street, while the opposite end is where Vihara Laai Kham (about 1-2 miles long). A moat also still exists just outside of the Old City Wall.
