Many of the African Elephants have the same history: being an orphaned baby after their mothers were culled (killed) in Africa.

Unfortunately, this disrupts family groups and leaves behind many traumatized calfs. Then... their training rituals begin so they can learn to perform for us tourists...

21 April 2008: I returned from my journey to PAWS. Actually, PAWS has two sanctuaries (both located out of the Sacramento area). The new one that will eventually house all of PAWS' animals is called ARK 2000 (2400 Acres of land in San Andreas, California).
