Sandwiched between ocean and river

The boat pulled onto the small patch of sand in the village of Tortuguero and we jumped off the front of the boat. A woman sitting by the 'dock' offered to show us to the hotel which would normally make me wary but she didn't seem to have any agenda and she did just leave us once she had rung the bell for the owner.
