Brunelleschi's Dome

The people that built this cathedral were confident. They built it with a massive hole for the dome to go in but without knowing how they were going to build it. Their equipment for scaffolding wasn't able to span the hole to build on it at the time. One idea to keep putting dirt directly under the hole so workers could get up there and to include coins in the dirt so the peasants would come and take it away for free when they were done. Luckily Brunelleschi came along and after studying the ancient Pantheon's dome in Rome devised a plan and built this baby.

So here we are, home of the Renaissance - Firenze, Italia. We made our way from Sorrento to Naples, leaving our ability to buy tickets and board the train we intended on catching on time in the hands of the travel gods.
