Peninsula excursion, old nest

This is how most of the nests we saw looked-- they were likely decimated by mongoose (we saw quite a few near by), but it's hard to tell if they got into the nest after some had started hatching out, or before they ever had a chance to hatch. (These are not the same turtles/nests that we monitor the beach for in the spring. These are the ones that we catch in the juvenile stage during in-water tagging, but we've never seen a nesting adult)
