Nightingale Floors

One of my favorite parts of the whole trip was walking over the nightingale floors inside Nijo Castle. The floors were made chirp like a bird when enemy warriors were sneaking in for an attack.

Jessie and I set out for Kyoto early last Saturday morning with our friends Hiromi and Takahisa Fukasawa. The Fukasawas are my students.
