The Tonagariro Crossing

After Abel Tasman we headed back up to the North Island for our last big challenge called the Tongariro Crossing which is an 18.5km walk between 3 mountain ranges, 2 of which are active volcanoes! It took us 6 hours to complete. This is Mount Ngauruhoe-famous for its part as Mount Doom in the Lord of the Rings films.
