How to explain this to your kids?

The racism solution. Apartheid was created to keep the White South Africans in power over the people from the Coloured and Black communities. It was a complete system of oppression spanning from political and economic guidelines down to everyday life; like which park bench you where allowed to sit on. A person that broke the ethnic barriers and engaged with people of different classifications was often brutally punished.
