Falun mine

In 1687 a significant portion of the mine collapsed and a huge crater appeared. Miraculously, no one died, because the collapse occurred on midsummer (i.e. Midsommar), back then one of only two holidays in a year (the other being Christmas). In XX century the rubble was excavated from the surface.
