Well here you are you lucky people - a geek's guide to Lord of the Ring locations in New Zealand.

Whilst we were here we went to quite a few sites on our own and even forked out quite a swedge of cash to do a tour. It's pathetic really! Anyway here are the fruits of our own particular quest as the fellowship of the, well, saddos really.

We are looking forward to getting home to wear the replica hobbit costumes we ordered whilst we were out here. I like big furry feet.

Rick says we've got a lovely pair of anoraks to wear when we get home too.

Of course you all know that this is the scene you see at Bilbo's going away party

"If you want him, come and claim him". Rick was a bit gutted not to see Liv Tyler for a snog

This was where the fellowship go down the river in boats and pass the Pillars of the Kings (clearly the pillars were superimposed!)

We did this on a tour - honest we would never be so geeky as to seek this one out! It is where there is the big fight at the end of Fellowship, when Frodo sees Aragorn and then buggers off with Sam, then Aragorn gives the Uruk Hai a swedging on top of a table thing

In real life it is a facinating glacial feature, apparently!

Weeeelll it would be rude not to! Although no sign of Aragorn for a snog

It didn't turn out too well for them cos of those wargs!

This is apparently where Isuldur was trotting along with the ring right at the beginning, when orcs attack him and kill him. Serves him right. Although clearly this could just be any old lane and we are mighty gullible!

However I think you'll find he did come to every sight with me! Hah. By the way this is a totally spurious L o R site that they take you to, apparently the big arrow stuck out of a building in Wellington when they had the premiere of Return of the King.

Dear GEEKS, once you have read this blog go back up to the top of the page and check out the 'targeted advertising' that is automatically associated with your text. Elven weddings, Tolkein conferences.... nuff said.
