Well it's been a month of madness for sure...we started off in the North Island sightseeing in aukland and then went up to the bay of islands. Went dolphin watching with the hope of swimming with them....and didn't even see any! Oh well it was gorgoeus and sunny so we did a bit more lying on the beach as if we hadn't already done enough of that in fiji! Then we headed down south to mercury bay and then onto rotorua where we met the guys who we have stayed with for nearly all of kiwi experience...Pat, Adam, "Chief" Joe, Will and the legendary Gripper (Rob). Rotura was very very smelly (sulphur pools everywhere so it stinks of rotten eggs...gross). Went to a Mouri cultural night which was wicked and then the partying began....and has not really stopped. Like uni all over again! Went to a gorgeous polyneisan spa and reaped its therapeutic benefits. Next stop Waitomo where we went Black water rafting.....so much fun wearing wetsuits, little gum boots, helmets and wading, jumping backwards off waterfalls and rafting (well floating in rubber rings if we are totally honest!) through pitch balck caves where we saw the famous glow-worms. Also very
randomly had a trip to an angora rabbit shearing farm shop....sounds rubbish...was one of the funniest things ever...i did not know rabbits could grow that big! Next stop Taupo!!!!!!! One of my fave places of the trip.... we did a 15,000 ft skydive over the lake...it simply was amazing....would do it again and again (if i had the money). Also did the Tongaro crossing...a 17km hike over volcanic craters...and past mount doom (from lord of the rings). Very hard work but worth the effort. Then River valley where we didn't do much but still had a great time swimming in the ice cold river and chilling out with everyone from the bus. Next stop Wellington where we met up with Carys (my cousin) and she took us out for a yummy dinner (sooooo good after 2 months of pasta and tomato sauce), and showed us the sights. Also had a few very messy nights in the hostel bar but the best one was definitley the toga party....got to love a bit of fancy dress!!
Then ferry over to south island, did a bit of wine tasting is nelson and had a picnic by the nelson lakes with some very
agressive ducks! One stole my sandwich right off my lap cheeky thing. Some more girls joined us on the bus at nelson so there has been a massive group of us which is nice. Nextfew stops didnt do much really, chilled out, drank lots of boxed wine, saw loads of gorgeous scenery (mountains and lakes and waterfalls) and generally just had a good time all together. Then the legenedary "Poo pub" by lake Mahinapua...run by an absolute gem of a man...83 year old lez. Again a bit more fancy dress...theme bin bags. Us girls went as the Kiwi cool cats (cheerleaders) and looked pretty good if i may say so! Everyone made a well good effort...Pat and Joe as gay fairies...Will and Adam as a dominatrix pairing....most def not a sight for the faint hearted!!....Gripper as Super Gripper...and loads of other wicked outfits...need to see the pics to understand! Then Franz Joseph where we did a full day glacier hike which was brilliant. Gorgeous scenery again and so much fun going through tiny caves and crevacies and stuff. And crazy claire jumped in an ice pool but i wipmed out of that one! After that Wanaka where we had a
bit of r and r by the lake and watched films in bed. Heaven after being so busy! Then we headed to Queenstown...party capital where we are now. 1st day we went luging with Robbie, Caroline and Gripper...face paint and all...like big kids. Luging is awesome...racing each other down the tracks and going a bit crazy. Had an aweosme 1st night out in base bar and then world bar where they serve cocktails in teapots...random but cool. 2nd day we hired bikes and cycled around the lake and had a picnic on the beach. Then the next day me and claire did the Nevis bungy with the boys!!!!!!!! Mental....134m high with 8.5 secs freefall...was terrifying but sooooo good! That night it was Gripper and Adams birthday night so we all dressed up as rappers and slappers and had probably th best night out we've had in NZ!!! It was hilarious! A massive group of us and everyone was on a high after the bungy. Recovery day next day...being very lazy and going to the cinema. Last night was Ruby's birthday...and if hadn't alreday noticed the theme of fancy dress...you will now...this time the theme was anything beggining with R. I
went as a rainbow! Chilling today, then we have 2 nights in Christchurch before we fly to oz. Well thats the news in very brief form...full stories and details to be told when we get home!!
Hope everyone at home is well. Love to you all. xx
