We are a family of four, two kids ages 12 and 15 and are arriving at Auckland on December 27th and departing on January 13 from Christchurch. We would like to combine adventure for the kids with some beach, scenery and relax time. Should we skip Aukland and travel to Wellington or Christchurch to start our holidays??? should be concentrate on the west or east coast?

Also, can you give us some advice regarding accomodations? were thinking of B&B or should be go for motels. Would not like to spend more than USD 150 a night.

Would greatly appreciate some advice.
