Fox Glacier
It looks better if you look at it like this... Sidebar Story
Before we headed north to the Glaciers I should mention a moment that made us laugh in Queenstown. Unwilling to pay for accommodation for the night, Matt and I slept in my car. So, we found a spot in a street a few blocks from the main street and settled down for the night. At about 820am we got a knock on the window "My name's Dave, I'm from the Council" - Now, had he not had a broad kiwi accent he would have deserved a punch in the face for that line alone. "You can't sleep here - next time it'll be a $400 fine". Next time. "Right-o" I thought - like we'd planned to do it again. "And" he continued "there's a puddle of p*ss at the back of your car, I don't suppose you know where that came from do you?"
"Nah mate" we responded. Looking back there were at least 5 answers that would have been better:
* "Leaky screenwash dispenser Dave"
* "Someone's bladder Dave"
* "Koo, those bloody drunkards eh Dave"
* "Er no Dave, can I phone a friend?"
* "Cool, do you know anywhere I can get a shower round
here Dave?"
* "Nice one, hey, do you know if they serve an all-day breakfast in the diner on main street Dave?"
Dave then pointed out that there was a campsite 20 yards away. "Aah, that'll explain all the tents then eh Dave"
What a helpful chap.
FOX GLACIER
The Fox Glacier (surprisingly did not have a polar bear standing on it telling jokes so) was a bit of a dissapointment really. In hindsight we should have paid for a guided tour, which allows you to hike up and into the glacier - way beyond the WARNING SIGNS that prevent you getting closer than 100 yards away. Still, been there seen that I guess.
FRANZ JOSEF GLACIER
Again. Not really the same from a distance but we got the idea and the walk did us good. Unfortunately, Matt was still searching for the next piece of his own little jigsaw. Let us pray.

As another one of 'those west country folk' i feel i should defend matt but i fear that may only come between the playful flirting that is oh so cunningly disguised as 'insults' between you guys. Gutted I didnt get onto one fo the album covers, but then, i guess i was committed to my training for my cliff top sports at that stage. Its tough at the top. Shame i didnt get longer on the road with you both, at least then i might even have stopped you wetting yourselves in your car Hugs, Em x
