Camp in Cameron Flat
It was b-e-a-uuuutiful! March 2, 2010
Kailey here this time, we thought we’d write this blog as we drive and our character building experiences are fresh in our mind!
Yesterday we were woken up by a startling knock on our tent...it was the Department of Conservation officer wanting our money. She timed it quite perfectly! 8 am, time to wake up and get into gear, we had a game to win! We beetled into Queenstown in our super flashy car Jalapeno to a sports pub to watch our Canadian men win GOLD!!!! There were fellow Canadians watching as well so we were able to feel a bit of an Olympic buzz together as the gripping game unfolded. What a way to spend a Monday morning! Now we had to brave the stormy grey weather…what were we going to do that could be as exciting as another GOLD for Canada? Dashing from undercover to undercover? Not really but that is what we did!
We managed to spend the day in the town and then made our way back out to our camp site where a lovely surprise was waiting for us! Our dear little tiny tent was floating in the middle of
Chillaxin
Ladies!! Get a load of this male specimen. a muddy lake. Thankfully the rain had stopped at this point and we were able to move the tent to higher ground without drenching ourselves! The night had become bitterly cold and we got as many layers on as possible to stay warm enough to stop frost bite. Six am didn’t come quick enough…moaning and groaning from our aching frozen bodies we managed to get up and get an early start on the day.
We are on our way to Invercargill and then hopefully we will make it to Bluff which is at the southern tip of the South Island. However, the first priority for today is a HOT shower, we all haven’t had a shower in more than a week. Gross eh? But don’t worry, we did manage to rinse off and wash our hair in a weedy lake three days ago! Hope you’re all enjoying life! We are!!! Cheers!!

Olympics and stuff
Hi there, So glad you guys got to see "the game". We are some proud Canadians these days! Thanks for keeping us up to date on your adventures including all the personal hygene stuff :-{ !! Never thought you could do without a shower that long, did you? Are you learning anything about sheep so that you can preach to us when you get home? I understand there are more sheep than humans in NZ. Play safe.
