Wednesday 4/2/15 Hokitika to Franz Josef.

Quite a short journey today so we had a wander round the shops in Hoki, bought a few souvenirs and found the ONE RING but it was $760 so didn't get it.Leaving and the weather changed quite spectacularly, raining so hard we had to stop for a while but it cleared up and was good enough by the time we reached Franz.Another day another motel, this one was quite good, bit tight for parking but a cool view from the door.Off for an afternoon walk to see the glacier, about 8k from the town and then a 45 min walk to the closest point, which was a lot closer than I thought it was but not close enough to walk on it. You have to do a helicopter ride to get right onto the glacier these days it's retreating so much. Anyway it was quite amazing from where we saw it and luckily we'd taken waterproof jackets! A popular walk as you might imagine but not busy really.
