So the next morning we all hopped back on the bus, all very hung over, and set off bound for Franz Josef. After arriving in Franz Josef we checked into the lovely Rainforest hotel, got kitted up, hopped into a helicopter and flew up onto the Franz Josef glacier. Wow. We were sat on a beach next to the poo pub yesterday shivering in the cold and now we're stood on a glacier in the baking sun having to strip down because it's so hot.
Our guide navigated us around the glacier through crevasses and big holes in the ice created by flowing air and water. This felt like something from another world. I've never experienced anything like this before. Completely mind blowing stuff. After roughly 3 hours on the glacier we hopped onto another helicopter and flew back down to base. We then went over the road from our hotel and jumped into some hot pools which were included free in the glacier hike. Just what you need after 3 hours trekking on snow and ice.

After enjoying an hour or so wrinkling up in 36-40 degree hot pools we grabbed a shower and headed to the hotel bar for some more fun and games. A few rounds of pool followed by a few rounds of bingo. Shame I didn't win the bingo as the top prize was a canyon swing in Queenstown which is something I'm definately going to do!

As is stands today is Friday 14th September, we've got a free day in Franz Josef and it's pissing it down outside again. I suppose this is a good thing really as it's given me chance to catch up on this blog, which isn't easy trying to remember what we've done over the last week. I might hop in the hot tub at the hotel in a bit and chill out before dinner time then we've got more games to play in the bar tonight. Extreme musical chairs aparently, sounds interesting. Tomorrow morning we will be heading to Wanaka. We might get a bit of snowboarding in there, if not we will in Queenstown.
