The sea!The sea!The sea!

Stopped here on the way to Fox Glacier. Apparently the most Western point in NZ.
On my way up the West Coast decided to stop in Fox Glacier for a day. It's a natural but it sounds great! Fox Glacier the village is a tiny place, it's basically just one short street with a lot of confused looking hikers wandering about. To get on the glacier itself you'd have to pay at least $100, so we decided to just do a gentle walk to the look-out point to admire from a distance. Ended up being through a jungle, and miles down a road, but it was still nice.

Once we got to the look-out, and admired the view for a bit, this Kea just flew out of nowhere and hung around for a bit. It kind of seemed like it was trying to sidle round to the bench to pinch our cameras, but that might be just me giving bad motives to a bird.

It seemed like a much shorter walk on the way back, and I didn't fall in the river this time either (it wasn't a complete fall the first time, only my foot). Got back to the hostel, watched a boat-load of films

in the little cinema room, then went to bed before the hours-and-hours-and-hours in the bus tomorrow on the way to Nelson.

The glacier was really far away, so it doesn't look that big here
