Hello All,

Sean and I have arrive back safely from our adventures on Stewart Island. We finished the tramp and jumped onto a ferry back to the mainland on Feb 12th. From there we spent a little time indulging ourselves in Invercargill and then began a drive through the scenic Catlins on the southwest corner of the island. It is a gorgeous drive along the coast and through rolling hill of farmland. Sean and I slept in the back of our hatchback at the southern most point of the south island. It was REALLY windy and quite cool. The following day we spent the morning and early afternoon driving through the rest of the Catlins. We stopped at Curio Bay for a sheltered breakfast. This is one of the best places to surf in New Zealand (and maybe the world!?) so we wanted to check it out. I was almost beside myself when I came out of the bathroom and there was a seal hobbling down the road maybe 10 feet from me! I wish I had my camera! I followed it and watched it curl up in the sun right next to a sleeper van. Someone was in for a surprise when they woke up and tried to get out! From there we went to a place called Nugget Point where we walked to a light house and were able to see sealions and many more large crashing waves. I was hoping to see penguins but it didn't seem to be the right time of day. I can supposedly see them here in Dunedin, though, so I will keep looking! Once in Dunedin we stopped to do some shopping and have lunch at a Cambodian resturant. Dunedin seems like a great little town. Sean and I were pretty overwhelemd with the size of it and all the people, though. We're readpating. Where we're WWOOFing is actually just north east of Dunedin in a town called Carey's Bay. It is a gorgeous little spot with a view of the harbor, sea and surrounding hills. Sean and I have been staying with Judy on her lovely 5 acres overlooking the town and landscape. Judy has 4 shy sheep and a handful of wild chickens. We have spent most of our time cutting up and sorting through brush making firewood and throwing the rest in the woods. It has taken us more than 3 days to go through it all! I've also done a bit of pulling thistle in the fields. Not the best of jobs, but it hard to complain with such a spectacula view. One of these days we'll get our camera to work so we can show you! For those who don't know, our last camera broke so we've bought a new one, but I guess I have to install software onto it before being able to upload pictures. You wouldn't think it'd be hard to find a place that would let you download software, but... Well, Ce la vie. We'll get it up soon. We've been having a great time hanging around Judy's as there are awlays people around to talk with. Her friend Sue, from England, istaying with her, and there is alawys 2-4 other people working on the property at any given time. We went to the local pub last night to listen to a live jazz group and then had a friend of Judy's over for pizza. TOnight will be another dinner party with some other friends. We're being brought up to speed on our dining etiquette eating with Brits 😊 Sean made a pizza

a couple nights ago. The exact quote from Judy was, "I didn't think it would really be anything that special, pizza is quite boring, but it was propbably the best pizza base I've ever had." Go Sean! Anyway, Sean and I will be here for another day or so. On the 18th we'll be taking off for Christchurch where Sean is hoping to rent a motorcycle, then to Kaikoura and then back into the mountains of the Nelson Lakes Park for a week of hiking.

Hope all is well and thank you for keeping up with us!

Best,
Emily
