A Lovely Lake where the Locals can get Married
The drive from Te Anau took about 4-5 hours and then we rushed over to the peninsula to look for penguins, but got there a bit too late really - there was a tour going to look at yellow eyed penguins which took an hour and a half and seemed a bit excessive, we only really wanted to clap eyes on them. Especially as we had seen them in the water now several times, lucky me. Anyway we headed back into Dunedin and found a campsite where there were some good local walks, one of which we did in the morning and had glow worm caves!

I phoned home for the first time in ages and it was lovely to talk to Mum and Dad. Then we went to skype the Fryers and Freddy and it was lovely to see them! Freddy was all ready for school and proudly showing off his bike skid lid and his beautiful aeroplane from Aunty Sue and Uncle Robin. He was extremely excited about going to Paris to Disney Land on the train in half term - more excited about the FOUR trains he was going to go on than Disney Land itself I think... anyway it was fab to see/speak to you all 😊

We had dinner in Dunedin and then back to the campsite to see the glow worms. Pretty cool - they look like LCD lights hanging on the rock walls. Bit funky and we were glad we had ticked glow worms off the list, it saves us a journey to the caves in the north island!

The next morning we did a lovely long walk up on the cliffs round a big lake where people get married - very pretty. Then we set off for Oamaru where we had decided to try our penguin hunt for the last time...
